As our try-outs & evaluations for Rep & AA wrap up and we begin to work through our evaluations for our Community & A teams,

I wanted to thank everyone for the extremely high interest in ball this year. Our registrations have greatly increased and are higher than they were pre-COVID.

With that it’s highlighted that we need to review and edit some of our policies that we follow as well it reminded me that I have done a poor job sharing the personal objectives that I’ve set for our association. As President,

I will work to ensure Sylvan Lake Minor Ball Association will
1. Strive to have as many athletes playing ball (softball or baseball) as possible
2. Develop the skills of all athletes
3. Ensure all athletes to have fun
4. Enhance and grow all athlete’s love of the game
5. Field competitive teams
I strongly believe that regardless if you’re on a Rep/AA team or a Community/A or in Rally Cap or 9U-Rookie, if the team (parents, coaches, managers, athletes) focus on objectives 1-4, 5 will come easily.

Further evaluations and practices are still happening and I know the kick off to our season is about a month away and it appears that Mother Nature is doing her part to try to delay that best she can.. I would encourage you to watch the 15minute TedTalk below. It’s called ‘Give Sport Back To the Kids’.

Finally, don’t forget that we’re in desperate need of umpires, both softball & baseball. 🥎⚾ There are links below that can point you to courses and classes to get certified.

Baseball – Baseball Umpire Clinics – 2022 – Sylvan Lake Minor Ball (teamsnapsites.com)

I wanted to take a moment to share and thank you again for making this the most successful registration in Sylvan Lake Minor Ball Associations history. I can only hope that it’ll lead to an enjoyable and success 2022 ball season.

Yours In Sport,

Dave Darbel
