Please be advised that there is a very poor air quality in Sylvan Lake again today due to the wild fires. As of 3pm May 17, the Air Quality is 7 and expected to remain at or around 8 for the remainder of afternoon & evening.

We have taken into consideration the Govrnment of Canada’s Air Quality Health Index which states that general population should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors, epsecially if you experience symptons such as coughing and throat irriation while at-risk population should avoid activities outdoors all together. As well, we have reviewed Baseball Alberta’s guidelines re: Air Quality that state AQ must be lower than 7 in order to hold outdoor events.

As a result and with concern for our athletes’, coaches’ and all those involved health and wellbeing, we are cancelling all outdoor activites (games, practices, etc.) scheduled for today (Wednesday May 17) for ALL groups (RallyCap, 9U, Baseball and Softball). Please do not proceed with any outdoor activities that are scheduled for this evening.

We apologize for the incovience and appreciate your understanding.

Thank you,

Dave Darbel, President SLMBA
